More and more people who remarry find themselves with an instant family, saying “I do” to more than just a spouse—there are the kids, the in-laws, the out-laws (former in-laws) the exes and the family pets as well. 3. Of the three challenges—finances, ex-spouses and the children—which is the most challenging for you as a married couple today? Why?

Interestingly, all three areas have something to do with the future security of the children. If there are children in your blended mix, their lives and hearts are important to God. As Christian adults, we cannot teach them about the love of Jesus if we live in bitterness and unforgiveness toward their other parent. We also cannot play a protective role in their lives if we are not part of their financial provision. Far too often, bitterness and unforgiveness toward the ex-spouse fuel the climate in blended family relations.
